The Olympic Games are a time to celebrate the hard work of athletes around the world. But that doesn’t mean that their technical skills are all they have to offer. In some ways, the Olympics are like their own extended fashion week, with everyone from athletes to spectators taking the opportunity to express themselves through their fashion and beauty choices.
The Olympic style moments aren’t that surprising when you consider the role fashion has long played in sport. And with the Summer 2024 games currently happening in Paris, the epicentre of fashion, it makes sense that attendees would do their best to match the energy of the city. From podium-ready tooth gems and Cowboy Carter-inspired grills to Wicked (literally) matching on the sidelines, here’s some of the best 2024 Olympic style moments.

For a performance that was filmed in Long Beach, California and aired during the Olympics closing ceremony (a virtual passing of the torch for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics), Billie Eilish wore a casual collegiate outfit by Ralph Lauren that captured both an athletic aesthetic with its Team USA patches and a laidback Cali vibe with its baggy silhouette. Eilish performed a rendition of “Birds of a Feather” alongside her brother Finneas; Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre and the Red Hot Chili Peppers also performed. L.A. 2028, here we come!

French songstress Yseult wore a Dior Haute Couture black silk jacket and skirt to perform at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on August 11. She accessorized the look with a Dior hat, gloves and shoes, along with 28.51 carat heart-shaped diamond earrings and a 21.89 carat blue sapphire and diamond necklace from Chopard Haute Joaillerie. Trés chic!
Snoop Dogg has become almost as much of a staple at these games as legends like Simone Biles, and he’s not even competing. The rapper, who’s in Paris as a correspondent for NBC, has been popping up everywhere, serving as a torchbearer and commentating on sports like badminton — all while looking fly. But nothing beats his latest ‘fit.
On August 3, Snoop and BFF Martha Stewart attended the Equestrian Team Dressage final at Versailles decked out in head-to-toe equestrian attire (including a helmet!). The pals weren’t only celebrating the Olympics, but Stewart’s 83rd birthday. Talk about going for it.
The U.S. gymnastics team dominated this year’s games (and on TikTok), with athletes Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera taking home a 10 medals between them. Biles, who’s marking her third Olympics, is the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) in her sport — and she knows it. Which is why her latest accessory makes total sense.
After taking home gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around final, Biles celebrated on the podium while wearing a diamond-encrusted 3-D goat pendant, holding it up alongside her gold medal. The idea for the necklace, made by California jeweller Janet Heller Fine Jewelery, came straight from Biles herself. “My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode, because some people love it and some people hate it, so it’s like the best of both worlds,” Biles told USA Today. “I was like, ‘OK, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace. I know people will go crazy over it.’" We love a stylish celebration of self.
She may not be competing in the Olympic games (despite having Olympic greatness in her genes), but Kendall Jenner did take her attendance at the Paris 2024 Olympics — and her patriotism — seriously. On August 1, the model and 818 founder popped up at the women’s all-around gymnastics finals in a USA Olympic team-themed zip-up from Ralph Lauren (the jacket will be worn by U.S. flag bearers in the game’s closing ceremonies) and a matching baseball cap. Paired with chic black loafers and a cropped white tee, Jenner’s look was giving athlete off-duty — and serving as inspo for what to wear to our next sporting event.
On July 30, U.S. gymnastics athlete Jordan Chiles accepted a gold medal alongside her teammates while sporting some very on-trend bling. Unlike teammate Biles, it wasn’t a necklace the gymnast chose to wear but diamond-encrusted grills. Made in her home city of Houston, Texas, Chiles told GQ that her bottom grill, a gold and diamond bar, was inspired by imagery from Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter album.
“It was more of a fashion statement for me because I was like, I’m gonna have them with me, I’m probably gonna go do stuff in Paris. You know, this is just Jordan,” Chiles told the magazine. “I was like, You know what, I’m gonna stand on the podium with that gold medal around my neck and I’m gonna have my grills in and see what people say.”
If you had no idea what the heck sharp shooting is before the start of these Olympics, you’re definitely not alone. But chances are you know all about it now, or at least all about South Korean sharpshooter Kim Ye-ji. The Korean athlete went viral after a 10-meter air pistol women’s event on July 27. But it wasn’t necessarily for her silver medal-placing shot (although that was pretty great); but rather her vibe during the competition. Essentially, she is cool as hell. From Ye-ji’s casual stance to her Matrix-esque glasses and backwards cap, the Olympian left people online asking: “Is this the hottest and coolest anyone has ever looked in history?" The answer is, of course, yes.
Before the games even officially started, athletes and their countries were using fashion to make a statement. While the Olympics opening ceremony gave fans tons of looks to go gaga over, two countries in particular stood out. Team Mongolia, specifically, had everyone talking, after the country unveiled their team uniform in early July. Designed by sustainable Mongolian couture house Michel & Amazonka (they’re sisters!), according to Dazed, the looks were inspired by traditional garments and featured gorgeous embroidery on the vests and collars.
A close second was Team Liberia, who were outfitted by Telfar Clemens in unisex looks with collars designed to look like the shape of Africa on a map.
For Lady Gaga, every performance is over the top, and we wouldn’t have expected anything less for the Olympics. Taking to the stage during the Olympic opening ceremony to kick off the performances, Gaga sang “Mon Truc en Plume,” a well-known French song, in a performance inspired by the French Cabaret, according to the singer.
While the set itself — which took place on the bank of the Seine river — was plagued with sound issues, Mother Monster looked unwaveringly fabulous, taking to the stage in a custom Dior feathered gown. Incidentally, living legend Céline Dion also took to the Olympics opening ceremony stage in custom Dior.
It turns out that not even the 2024 Olympic Games can stop the speeding train of a movie press tour — just ask Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Ahead of the July 26 opening ceremony, Grande and Erivo walked the red carpet by the Eiffel Tower together in pink and emerald green ‘fits, respectively. ICYMI, the pair are co-stars in the upcoming Wicked musical movie, and have been donning their respective colours as an homage to their characters’ signature hues (and personalities) throughout the press tour. It’s method dressing at its finest!!
For their walk along the Seine, Grande donned a baby-pink satin dress with a drop waist and bow paired with a matching bow in her hair, pink bow heels and white silk gloves, while Erivo stunned in a strapless emerald green gown with a matching wide-brimmed hat. We can’t wait to see what they pull together next.
