3 Hair Accessories to Try For Your Next Video Call

Minimal effort, maximum impact.

We’re now mid-way through week three of social distancing meaning we’re getting increasingly better at how we approach our work video calls. Dressing from the waist up has become somewhat of a sartorial sport of late and thankfully there are plenty of options – from loungewear to cool sweaters and tops – to help us toe the line between looking professional and feeling comfortable for another day at the home office. We here in the FASHION team have very much discovered the power of accessories at a time like this. Statement earrings can immediately take a loungewear look to luxe, so too can hair accessories. Whether you opt for a headband, some purposefully placed hair clips or a silk scarf, a humble hair accessory can pull your entire look together with very little effort required elsewhere. See how the street style set make these items work, and try them out on your next call:

Headbands

Take a leaf out of Blair Waldorf’s book for your next call. Whether jewelled, textured or coloured, a headband is an easy way to add a little style to any outfit. Haven’t washed your hair in a few days? Slick it back into a bun and let the headband serve as a fancy distraction. Feeling like a pick-me-up? A crown-like head topper will instantly brighten your mood.

Hair clips

Once the domain of our primary school selves, hair clips have had a renaissance in recent seasons. And there’s never been a better time to get back on board. Use dainty shapes (like the stars below) to elevate simple styles, or pin clips in prominent positions to create a fashionable focal point.

Silk scarves

If your silk scarves are gathering dust in your wardrobe, why not try using them in your hair instead? Simply tie the scarf around a ponytail for instant polish (this will be less visible on a call but will undoubtedly give you a confidence boost), or opt for a more vintage approach and wear the scarf open across your head and tied below your ponytail.
