Celebrity-Loved Canadian Outerwear Label Soia & Kyo Opens Toronto Flagship

Right in time for winter.

Living in Canada, it’s likely you recognize the brand name Soia & Kyo.

Known for its stylish outerwear, the Montreal-born brand was started in 2004 by creative director Ilan Elfassy. Since launch, the brand has become a go-to for some of the world’s most stylish women. Meghan Markle has worn its pieces, so too have Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Yara Shahidi and Sandra Bullock.

The launch of the Toronto store marks the second store location in the GTA following its Mississauga store opening at Square One Mall in September of last year. According to a release, the bright store (which is located in Toronto’s Eaton Centre on the second floor) covers 2,000 square feet and is home to the brand’s extensive collection of outerwear and accessories. Elfassy said of the space, “We invite customers to join us on a journey of discovery through carefully curated environments that delight the senses; elements of sight, scent, sound and touch – creating the ultimate Soia & Kyo experience.”

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the news, the brand wrote that it is “proud to be Canadian.”

The brand’s Fall/Winter’19 collection is available in store and was inspired by desert terrain with a colour palette of honey, matcha and berry bringing depth to your winter wardrobe.

The Duchess of Sussex most recently wore one of the Canadian label’s coats during her pregnancy. She paired the grey, mid-length wool coat with a floral printed midi dress from Brock Collection.

News of the flagship is the latest announcement made by a Canadian brand regarding expansion. Earlier this month, Sentaler announced it is expanding its offering to include menswear from Fall 2020, and just yesterday Aritzia revealed its first ever menswear product in the form of the Mr. Super Puff.
