As Paris Fashion Week rounds out another fashion month, it adds a new — and Canadian — designer to the schedule.
Paris Fashion week is no stranger to Canadian talent — just look at Greta Constantine and Mikhael Kale. The latter, the Toronto-based designer Mikhael Kale (known for his avant-garde, bold and meticulously crafted designs), used the streets of PFW as his backdrop and staged unconventional, spontaneous takeovers during the week, with his muses, Canadian glamazons Sylvia Mantella and Eva Shaw, helping to bring the vision to life. The latest Canadian name to join the runway schedule at Paris Fashion Week was none other than RVNG Couture, the rising fashion house celebrated for its glamorous aesthetic and inclusive approach. Helmed by designer Jordan Stewart, the brand presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, “EXHALE.”
Stewart, the creative force behind RVNG Couture, has a deeply rooted family legacy in fashion that goes back to her great-grandmother in Glasgow, Scotland, who worked for the renowned sewing company, Singer. Her country-girl work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, shaped by her upbringing in Simcoe, Ontario, played a major role in her journey from owning a boutique to launching her own label in 2019. Stewart is self-taught — despite this, her runway show was one of the highlights at Paris Fashion Week. “This collection draws inspiration from the breath, reflecting its deep connection to life’s rhythms and the ebb and flow of love. It begins with soothing lavender that gradually transitions into vibrant crimson reds, mirroring the journey of breath and capturing strength and renewal through fashion,” Stewart wrote on Instagram after the show.
Show attendees gathered at the exclusive Privatization Hotel Mona Bismarck, a private mansion in the 16th arrondissement, with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. The venue, with its rich history and elegant atmosphere, provided the perfect backdrop for high fashion. The space is known for its soaring ceilings, gold-accented walls and chandeliers that evoke the memories of classic Belle Epoque chic. The mansion itself carries a storied legacy, having once been home to Mona von Bismarck, a fashion icon in her own right. Her influence on fashion was so profound that Salvador Dalí famously painted her in 1943.
The front row was filled with notable figures from the fashion world: Caroline Vazzana, Dina Saeva, Mala Rodrigues, Floriane Bascout, Rosenda Cassage and Mame Anta Wade. Also making a splash in the front row were one of Canada’s favourite fashion duos: philanthropists Christi Himmelheber and Jay McCauley, who flew in specifically to attend the show.
When planning her runway debut at Paris Fashion, Stewart tapped the perfect muse: Canadian supe (and former FASHION cover star) Coco Rocha. Rocha’s flare for dramatic silhouettes and genuine love of high fashion made her the perfect model to close out the show, to say nothing of her signature runway walk. Rocha’s finale was a true statement piece: a voluminous black gown adorned with striking metallic textures.
Stewart’s thoughtful attention to detail was on display throughout the collection, from her signature tulle gowns to her use of colour (like soothing lavender, which appeared throughout). Other looks included striking long metallic skirts and plenty of shimmering fabrics and floral embellishments. The vibe? Minimalist yet daring.
Stewart’s rise from her boutique in Simcoe, Ontario, to being a celebrated designer at Paris Fashion Week is a testament to her resilience and creativity. And RVNG Couture’s bold, luxurious silhouettes have gained international recognition, including being worn by high-profile names like Paris Hilton, Wynonna Judd, Jennifer Hudson, Avril Lavigne and Nelly Furtado.
It’s no wonder Stewart is considered a front-runner for this year’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award at the CAFAs. The debut of RVNG Couture at Paris Fashion Week marks a significant moment for the brand, and Canadian fashion at large.
