Brother Vellies Visors

Brother Vellies Visors Are Less “Golf Dad” and More “It Girl Staple”

Visors might seem like they are the exclusive territory of tennis stars and golf dads, but they’re entering the fashion arena this spring thanks to a collaboration between Aurora James, the It girl behind label Brother Vellies, and hat maker extraordinaire Gigi Burris. Their collection of straw hats includes Anne of Green Gables-inspired boaters and, surprise of all surprises, visors.

“When I was younger, my grandmother always used to wear visors,” says James. “There’s something fun and fresh to me about the idea of a visor.” Maritime influence runs through the entire collection. James’s grandmother, her muse, grew up in Woodstock, N.B., and the hats channel the romance of hiking trails near the Saint John River and encountering seals or other wildlife. James calls the visor with the ribbon bow, which she personally hand-dyed at designer Ryan Roche’s house, “so feminine and exactly what you’d want to wear on a summer’s day.”

While their visors may be perfect for the upcoming warm months, we’re still stuck with a few months of rain and snow. But don’t worry, with OTT shearling, feathers and sparkles coating all shapes of shoes and handbags, Brother Vellies has something for every occasion.
