The popularity of the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show never ceases to amaze, and this year’s extravaganza starring both Justin Bieber and Rihanna was no different. Sarah Casselman’s insider look at this year’s show was our tenth most popular post this year.

The crown jewel of Canadian luxury celebrated its 175th anniversary this year with everything from street parties to designer appearances to a cross-country road trip. It was Holt Renfrew’s 27-piece designer collaboration though, that got everyone the most excited. Coming in at our ninth most read post this year, 27 of the world’s most stylish names including Manolo Blahnik, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Christian Louboutin and Roberto Cavalli, surely toasted Holt Renfrew in style.

Everyone loves a throwback, especially when it involves Victoria Beckham. Back before her Spice Girls days, Beckham (née Adams) posed for several amateur-modeling shots. Clearly inspired by the style of the day, the shots show a crimp-haired Beckham in several Flashdance-inspired poses, as well as an in some seriously awesome motorcycle jackets and mom jeans. Proof that sometimes celebrities are just like us.

Collaboration fever shows no sign of slowing, with the excitement around each H&M designer collection seeming to mount even higher than the last. The release of the Maison Martin Margiela look book exploded on our site, for one, making it the sixth most read post of the year.

Festival style has become so integral to the fashion cycle that it may as well have its own fashion week. When festival season hit Canada with Montreal’s Osheaga in August, excitement hit a fever pitch on our site, making our street style shots photographed by Phil Birnbaum the fifth most read post this year.

The party circuit makes quite an impact, especially with two of the year’s biggest: Toronto Life’s party celebrating their second annual Most Stylish list as well as our very own, celebrating our 35th anniversary. Both parties seemed to bring the best of Toronto’s notable attendees, and your interest along with it.

What’s going down on the street outside fashion week is often the best indication of what will become the biggest and best trends come next season, and what people were wearing outside the many Spring 2013 shows in New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto is our best recent example.

Well, this really doesn’t come as a surprise now does it. Last week, we made Kate Middleton our top fashion influencer of 2012, and the proof really is in the pudding. Our ever-expanding guide to the Duchess’s style was by far the most popular post of the year. Glad you all feel the way we do.
