The Internet Was Not Pleased That Selena Gomez Plugged Kim Kardashian West’s SKIMS on Instagram
Not pleased is actually a *huge* understatement.
One of the golden rules of the internet: do not come for Taylor Swift. With one of the most loyal online followings in the world, the popstar has a digital army watching her back at all times. And they were not at all pleased with Swifty’s best friend Selena Gomez’s most recent Instagram Story snap overnight.
Gomez is on the promo trail for her two new songs at the moment, and yesterday showcased four incredibly stellar outfits whilst out in NYC. At one point, we presume during an outfit change, the Lose You to Love Me singer uploaded a quick snap of herself wearing a bodysuit from Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear line SKIMS. The snap was captioned, “Legit, so freaking comfortable” and tagged the brand.
Cue ensuing drama.
It is well-known that Swifty and KKW are less than tight. Following years of on-again-off-again feuding (click here for a quick refresher and Taylor’s most recent comments on the matter), it seems clear that the two will never be friends. So Gomez, who is Taylor’s best friend, posting something in support of West who very much is not did not go unnoticed by fans.
Fans took to Twitter and Instagram in droves to call out Gomez for the post – leading the singer to ultimately delete the snap and instead upload a picture of her and Taylor reiterating how much she loves and supports her friend.
“My ride or die,” the caption reads. “I would die for this one. Thank you for forever being by my side. You have taught me so much, walked through all of this with me, STAYED and you remind me to be a better, human being. I’m on your side for life.”
If this isn’t a lesson in social media diplomacy, we don’t what is.
