We’re Partnering With WeWork on a Girl-Power Event for International Women’s Day

This Thursday, March 8th is International Women’s Day — a kickass celebration where we remember what women all over the world have done in pursuit of equal rights, and honour those who have broken the glass ceiling. It’s a day that will be filled with events for and by women, which makes it extra special, whether you’re celebrating here in Canada, or abroad.

It’s also a reminder that, while we have made incredible progress, we’ve still got a long way to go on issues like the gender pay gap, sexual harassment, and overcoming the still paltry representation of women in leadership positions.

That’s why we’re asking you to join us at Game Changers Presented by WeWork, a networking event and panel discussion being held on International Women’s Day. FASHION Magazine will be moderating a conversation four female game changers who’ll discuss strategies for achieving greater gender equality in fields ranging from tech startups and business to fashion law and branding.

But beyond just celebrating women on this one day, we (of course!) want to keep the mission of inclusivity and female empowerment going strong every day. That’s why we’re also lending our support to WeWork’s launch of their newest global initiative called ‘She Leads,’ an event series for women who take charge.

We spoke with the team at WeWork Canada to learn more about their organization, She Leads, and our Game Changers event. Read on for our Q&A.

What can attendees expect on Thursday’s panel discussion?

We wanted to host a panel discussion featuring a diverse group of women from different backgrounds who have changed the game in their respective fields. Many of their professions are notorious for being male-dominated and we wanted the audience to hear how these game changers were able to write their own rules.

Tell us everything about the She Leads initiative!

On International Women’s Day this year, WeWork is launching She Leads, a global event series with a mission to advance gender equality in the workplace by supporting women at any level to break through their own glass ceiling.

WeWork locations around the world will be hosting events to support female business leaders, entrepreneurs, and creators in and outside of the WeWork community.
We hope She Leads sparks conversations and that attendees leave with inspiration and strategies to implement into their daily lives.

She Leads will continue to live as a global event series throughout the year – from inspiring conversations, to educational workshops to meaningful networking.
