Lady Gaga Teases Her Upcoming New Movie, A Star Is Born

We’re going to say it. 2017 is Lady Gaga’s year.

After slaying the Victoria’s Secret Angel’s show, defying gravity at the Super Bowl and then blowing our minds at Coachella (while dropping a new single btw), calling Lady Gaga a superstar is probably the understatement of the year. You would think after all that, the singer would slow things down and take a much-deserved break. But according to her latest Instagram pic, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Lady Gaga is showing no signs of slowing down for the remainder of the year. After headlining Coachella’s second weekend of festivities, the singer will be putting her mic down for a little while and focus on her acting career. That’s right—we’re going to see Lady Gaga hit the big screen with Bradley Cooper in the reboot of A Star Is Born. Yaaas.

“I am so excited to star in my first movie alongside someone I’m so lucky to call my friend. I always wanted to be an actress on the big screen,” reads Lady Gaga’s Instagram caption. “The story of “A Star is Born” is so special and I’m so grateful to Bradley for making my dream come true. Can’t wait for you to meet Ally. She has her first scene in 5….⏰”

The film follows Jackson Maine (played by Cooper), a country music star, who discovers an unknown talent Ally Germanotta (played by Lady Gaga) and her journey of breaking into the cut-throat entertainment industry. The upcoming remake of A Star Is Born (previous versions include the 1954 musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason and the memorable 1976 update with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson) will be a major milestone for the two A-listers. Aside from this project marking Cooper’s directional debut, the film will also be Lady Gaga’s first time acting in a leading role. But rather than Lady Gaga, the movie credits will instead read her real name, Stefani Germanotta.

This won’t be the songstress’s first appearance in the acting industry. We’ve already seen Lady Gaga show off her acting chops in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Hotel and American Horror Story: Roanoke, with a Golden Globe to boot. Seeing that the character in the film is a talented singer struggling to make it big, we have a feeling Lady Gaga Germanotta is going to have no problem portraying the role.

According to Twitter, it looks like filming for the movie is well underway. To get people hyped, Warner Brothers Pictures announced that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will be shooting scenes for the film at Empire Polo Club, the same location as Coachella.

Honestly, news of Gaga passing on the Donatella Versace role makes so much more sense now.

So if you’re heading to Coachella for weekend two, keep your eye out for the starry duo. However, you can totally count on us to keep you up to date for any future teasers and trailers for A Star Is Born. In the meantime, we’d suggest you mark your calendars for September 28, 2018, so you don’t miss Lady Gaga making her debut on the big screen.
