Kim Kardashian West might be one of the busiest celebrities in all of Hollywood, but the law student is also carving out time to help draw attention to important cases. Today, her attention is focused on Making a Murderer’s Brendan Dassey.

Those familiar with the show will know that Brendan was found guilty of the first-degree intentional homicide of journalist Teresa Halbach in 2007, along with his uncle Steven Avery. Since the Netflix documentary aired, many believe that Brendan’s testimony was coerced (he was 16 at the time with no adult present) and should have been ruled inadmissible.

On Wednesday, Dassey’s legal team launched a clemency plea and Kim shared the handwritten note Dassey wrote for Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, with the caption, “Please @GovEvers Read this letter.”

The letter lists some facts about Brendan, including his favourite colours, drinks and food, before saying,  “I am writing to ask for a pardon because I am innocent and want to go home. If I would get to go home, I would like to get a job involving video games. I would like to help care of my mom and one day have a son and a daughter of my own. I would name my daughter Grace and my son Mizar which is the name of a star in the big dipper.”

In addition to this tweet, Kim, who has 62 million followers on the platform, also shared a link to a podcast called Wrongful Conviction which features an interview with Dassey.

This isn’t the first time the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has thrown her weight behind a case. Earlier this year, the SKIMS founder helped  Alice Marie Johnson get early release from a life sentence for non-violent drug charges in 1996.
