Jennifer Lawrence is Heading Back to Our Screens This Year

Ready. For. This.

Jennifer Lawrence is making her silver screen comeback this year, it has been confirmed.

After taking a much-earned break away from the spotlight to focus on other projects (and get married), the Academy Award-winning actress will be back in front of the camera again as early as April. Lawrence has been confirmed to play one of two leads in Adam McKay’s forthcoming comedy film Don’t Look Up which will premiere on Netflix later this year.

In addition to Jen’s participation, the only other thing we know about the film is the plot: Two low-level astronomers embark on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy planet earth, as per Deadline.

McKay, who is also an Oscar winner (he’s one half of the team behind 2016’s Best Adapted Screenplay winner The Big Short), said of Lawrence’s casting: “I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite talent’. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”

In addition to Don’t Look Up, the Silver Linings Playbook actress has a handful of other roles in the works, too, including an untitled film for A24 and Scott Rudin Productions, Mob Girl (in which she will star and produce), and Bad Blood – she and McKay will team up again for this one – in which Lawrence will portray disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.

And whilst we’re obviously excited about the movies, it’s really the press tours we’re most looking forward to TBH.
