OTT BEAUTY: I Checked Into The YSL Beauty Hotel In Paris And I’m Not Leaving

Beauty fan alert: YSL opens "pop up" Beauty Hotel in Paris.

Being invited to have a beauty break in Paris—in a city that is already OTT beautiful—is like having an extra scoop of crème fraîche on a buttery divine slice of tarte aux pomme. The invite came from YSL Beauty and the setting was the pop up YSL Beauty Hotel that the brand created for four days in Paris to celebrate its spring launches, in particular its new Black Opium. Inside the three-level space in the Eighth Arrondissement they set up “Le Beauty Bar” (yes, please!) where you could try the new Volupté Liquid Colour Balm as well as Rouge Pur Couture and Tatouage Couture shades. On the opposite wall, the “Juice Box” was stocked with the new men’s Y eau de toilette as well as the latest Black Opium flanker, which has citrus notes added to its iconic black coffee signature accord. Beside the bar, there was “Le Drive-In”, an area with vintage BMWs set up as makeup stations for Touche Éclat All in One Glow. Upstairs there were smaller rooms where you could test other products and listen to bands, including Hollysiz, Address Hymen, Keep Dancing Inc, Soleil Bleu, Dampa, Hollydays, Oscar Anton, Lucien & The Kimono Orchestra, The SugaZz, Alexandre Jonette, Antoine Elie, Rudy Kobain. (They’re performing during the hotel’s January 17 to 20 run from 10 am until 10 pm.) They kicked off their Beauty Hotel launch with a party Wednesday night that was attended by YSL’s makeup ambassador Zoë Kravitz, who looked stunning in a short velvet black dress from YSL. Other guests included Diane Kruger, Courtney Love and Presley Gerber. In the Black Opium club in the basement, DJs Simi & Haze and Sebastian and electro-pop band Hyphen Hyphen put on a “next-level” show, according to Canadian style blogger Jodi BLK Lopez. Check the slide show to see who else checked in that night.
