MFW Spring 2018: 7 Standout Beauty Looks from the Shows
Milan Fashion Week has come and gone and with it came some vibrant, bold and outstanding beauty looks that will undoubtedly set the stage for spring 2018’s hair and makeup trends.
Below, see seven standout backstage beauty looks from the shows:
Fendi
At first glance, some may be quick to deem Kaia Gerber’s dark blue fringe as “mermaid hair,” but hairstylist Sam McKnight has a different description: “petrol bangs.” Gerber’s hair wasn’t dyed blue, however, it was blue-and-green-dyed faux fringe that was placed over top of her real strands. According to Allure, McKnight was inspired by makeup artist Peter Philips’ dark, winged liner. “During the makeup test to figure out the look for the show, Peter had an array of liner marks on the back of his hand that were all sorts of greens and blues,” McKnight said, “so we decided to dye the hair pieces in similar tones.”
Stella Jean
Glitter eyes were given new life at Stella Jean’s spring 2018 show. Created by MAC Global Senior Artist Michele Magnani using MAC 3D Glitter, the sparkly eye was meant to be the “superstar” of the entire look. We say, mission accomplished.
Alberta Ferretti
Tom Pecheux had a different idea for the glitter eye. For Alberta Ferretti’s spring 2018 show, the makeup artist created a smoldering glittery eye using MAC Glitter in 3D Lavender. “The collection is very pastel-y, so [the designer] wanted to bring a bit of toughness to the face, but without losing any sensuality,” Pecheux told Allure. This resulted in a subtle smoky eye dusted in purple glitter. As for the hair, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau created a wet look of sorts, with soft tendrils framing the models’ faces.
Byblos
Punk/graffiti eyes was how makeup artist Terry Barber described the vibrant slashes of paint on models’ lids at Byblos’ spring 2018 show. And it wasn’t just the eyes that got the spray can treatment — hairstylist Adrian Clark recreated the effect on the models’ hair, too.
Versace
A simple look, but nonetheless still striking, especially on a supermodel and her genetically blessed daughter. For Versace’s spring 2018 show, makeup artist Pat McGrath created a bronze and gold smoky eye using her Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Eye palette. And we can’t forget about the lip — a creamy nude that accentuated the models’ pouts.
Gucci
There were a lot of different beauty looks on the Gucci runway, but we have to say, this geometric hairstyle by Paul Hanlon was the real standout.
Moschino
The ’60s gamine cropped ‘do made its return on the Moschino spring 2018 runway, with Paul Hanlon outfitting the models in different coloured wigs in the style. Makeup-wise, Tom Pecheux went more ’90s, outlining the girls’ lips in a warm brown liner with a shimmery finish.
