CoverGirl’s Latest Campaign Features a Model With Vitiligo

It’s a first for the brand---and a huge step toward vitiligo acceptance.

By now, you’ve likely heard of vitiligo, the skin condition that causes skin to lose pigment is certain areas, while retaining it in other areas, resulting in an uneven skin tone. This is thanks in large part to model Winnie Harlow, who has been outspoken about her skin condition, and has in no way let it hold her back in the modelling world.

In fact, her outspoken nature has led to makeup artists and painters embracing their skin disorder and turning it into art.

Today, we’re seeing another huge step toward vitiligo awareness---and acceptance---, with CoverGirl’s latest video campaign for TruBlend Liquid Makeup, which features model Amy Deanna, a model with vitiligo. In the video, Deanna is seen evening out her complexion on her skin using TruBlend foundation, and using a lighter shade to highlight the skin under her eyes. “Why try to blend in,” Deanna says in the video, “when you can choose to stand out?"
