Winnipeg: Back from the dead

A tailor is a girl’s best friend. I am the queen of thrift shopping and a believer that no girl’s closet is complete without some good ol’ used and abused pieces from the past.

Seeing as floral is everywhere this fall, I went on a hunt to my favourite boutique: Value Village (1695 Ellice Avenue, 204-774-1315, and three other Winnipeg locations). Lo and behold, a long billowing floral frock complete with disastrous sleeves called out to me from its hideous guise. It looked like it would never see another owner but I knew my miracle worker at Tam Custom Tailor Shop (802 Ellice Avenue, 204-775-1160) could bring it back to life.

With sleeves cut free and a few meters chopped in length, the result is a floral frock so chic it looks like it walked right off the runways.
