Vuitton’s costume jeweller headed to Dior

Christian Dior has named Camille Miceli as artistic director of costume jewellery and an adviser on a selection of leather works. With not-so-humble beginnings as an intern at Chanel and Azzedine Alaïa, Miceli’s fashion career began at the ripe old age of 15. She has been working with Louis Vuitton since 1997, when she started in the public relations department. Working under the guidance of Marc Jacobs, Miceli began creating costume jewellery collections for the brand for its Spring 2004 showing.

Miceli worked with Pharrell Williams on a Vuitton jewellery collection last year and is well-recognized for her unique jewellery designs that incorporate unexpected materials like wood and feathers. Within two seasons, her work for LV swung from spring’s over-the-top, tribal-inspired earrings, necklaces and earring/necklaces to fall’s elegant, oversized chains. [WWD]
