11 ways to wear the Velcro sneaker trend (without looking like a child)

I still remember the pink and purple Velcro sneakers I wore on my first day of kindergarten. It’s funny to think there was a time when Velcro was my only option---years before I started begging my parents to teach me to tie bunny eared bows and a whole new world of shoes opened up.

Interestingly, Velcro is making a comeback and popping up on sneakers at every price point, but the key is figuring out how to wear it and still look like a grown up. It’s tempting to wear multi-strapped sneakers with athleisure-inspired outfits (it’s a match made in heaven, right?). But to keep the kiddie look at bay, consider pairing Velcro shoes with a loose, wide-leg pant, a knit dress or a cropped flare jean. No matter what you choose, Velcro is guaranteed to make you look good at work or at play.
