As if a trip to Melbourne wasn’t appealing enough all year round, Canada’s frigid, ultra-snowy winter this year has us daydreaming about hopping on a plane STAT and travelling all the way to the other side of the globe, where Australia is currently enjoying its summer season.

But the weather isn’t the only reason to pay a visit to Australia’s second-most populous city. Just ask Ava Chandler-Matthews, co-founder of the mega-popular Australian sunscreen brand Ultra Violette. The brand, which made its way to Canada just last year, has quickly become a fan- and editor-favourite, thanks to its innovative formulations, made with both skincare actives and UVA/UVB protection. And when the brand says its products leave no whitecast, it really means it. After all, no one knows sun safety like the Australians.

But other than load up on SPF and enjoy some sand, surf and sun, what is there to do in Melbourne, Australia? A lot. We tapped Chandler-Matthews to find out her favourite spots in the city to unwind, go out to eat, and so much more.

Campos

“Campos in South Yarra - they have a few locations but I love the taste of their beans. I also love my coffee scalding hot (or ice cold in summer!) and they always get it right.”
