Describe your label in three words
Playful, wearable, contemporary.
What made you first want to be a designer?
The passion to create. Designing menswear became one outlet for us to explore our creativity.
When you decided to become designer, what is one thing you had no idea you’d have to do?
Compromise.
If you could have anyone in the world wear your collection, who would it be?
Someone who doesn’t want to take it off. Someone who wants our collection to become part of their identity.
What is one place or location that inspires you?
We were both born and raised in Toronto, so naturally it became a major source of inspiration and is apparent in our design process. Toronto streetwear has a distinct feel and we consciously and sub-consciously tap into it through a contemporary lens.
What would you consider the highlight of your career so far?
Possibly seeing Daniel Caesar wear our Fall ’18 Corduroy Tracksuit on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Both of our moms thought that was pretty cool.
What are you most looking forward to about Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with RE\SET?
Sharing our progression. Spring ’19 will mark our fourth collection and will aid in creating a more complete narrative surrounding WIL Studios as a brand.
