Fresh from winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Blue Is the Warmest Color had its red carpet premiere at TIFF last night and the French film’s award-winning buzz and behind-the-scenes gossip followed it to Toronto. (We’ll get to that gossip later on today…)

The film’s leading ladies, Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos, were of course the biggest red carpet draw. Both wore black lace dresses that captured the balance between supremely sexy and totally graceful—a style that French women just pull off so well. Seydoux’s dress was by Prada, which makes sense considering she was the face of their quirky Candy campaign from earlier this year. While Seyboux’s look—complete with smooth curls, a black cat eye and red lip—was more Old Hollywood, Exarchopoulos seemed to channel a page out of Kristen Stewart’s style book, with tousled hair and a sheer lace dress that revealed almost as much skin as is seen in the movie itself. One thing’s for certain: the chemistry seen on screen has certainly translated into a real life bond between the two.
