Matt & Nat has been around for a while. 21 years to be exact. Through the years, we’ve seen their bags surge in popularity, and then quietly hit the back-burner while other brands stole the spotlight. Well, the Canadian-designed, vegan line is back. We’ve spotted their spruced up, modern, clean-lined bags on the subway, the street and at the airport, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

With a little help (a.k.a. creative borrowing) from the cultish Mansur Gavriel and Céline handbag aesthetics, Matt & Nat’s eco-friendly bags (they divert about 120,000 plastic bottles from landfills by using them as bag linings) are finally putting design ahead of their earth-happy message.

Bringing a new sense of affordable luxury and attainability, the PU bags come in ‘need-to-have them’ shapes and ‘wow, I-can-afford-two’ prices. Aside from the hands-free backpack versions that we’ve spotted (both a soft fold over and a structured zip) our faves also include a triple pouch cross-body, a bowler bag and a soft saddlebag style.
