Just when we thought the weather couldn’t get any worse! After a week of chilly temps but not much snow, Snowstorm Pax brought its arctic fury to the streets of Manhattan for the last day of New York Fashion Week. The scene outside the Fall 2014 shows was one of attendees bundled up from head to toe, so it was fitting then that most of the shows yesterday—J. Mendel, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren all included—sent out strong furry looks, perfect for braving the snow. If our recent season of snowstorms is looking to become a reoccurring trend, we will be needing a whole lot of fur come this time next year.

Given the veritable blizzard going on, hats were the necessary accessory du jour. Miroslava Duma and Nasiba Adilova channelled their native land looking like life-sized Russian nesting dolls, each with their embroidered scarf as headgear. André Leon Talley was even sporting a toque and burgundy snakeskin gloves to stop the cold – you know it’s serious when the King of Fabulousness goes practical. But there was no hat worthy of crowing Jared Leto’s expertly ombré-d head – nothing can stop those luscious locks. Not even a havoc-inducing blizzard.

With London Fashion Week already underway and with severe levels of rain forecasted for England, we’ll be interested to see how the fashion elite cope with yet another set of extreme weather conditions. Rain boots, anyone?
