Attention Black Swan fans and Parisian cinema die-hards: The newest face of YSL Parfum, French leading man, Vincent Cassel stars in our Spring 2011 Men’s FASHION issue. Read an excerpt from our interview with him here:
When I ask Vincent Cassel which of his movies he considers to be his milestones, he tells me, “More or less, all of them.” His answer is not inaccurate, and it’s not surprising, coming from an actor who is recognized as one of the best in the world and has always been known as cocky.
In both of the movies that landed Cassel on The New York Times Magazine list of “actors who defined cinema in 2010,” he played cocks of the walk. In Mesrine, the two-part biopic that won Cassel a César (the French Oscar), he portrayed the legendary French gangster Jacques Mesrine as a mouthy show-off. In Black Swan, his performance as the arrogant artistic director of a ballet company was summarized by New Yorker critic David Denby as “a portrait of studliness.”
