Ballet Flats are Cool Again

Who else remembers when the Miu Miu wrap-around ballet flats took over social media in 2016? From Instagram to Pinterest to Tumblr, you couldn’t log online without stumbling upon these shoes at least once every day. Even still, they never lost their charm. And now, after a brief hiatus (and a balletcore revival), the flats are back.

For its Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Miu Miu sent models down the runway in delicate satin ballerinas paired with leg warmer-inspired socks.

But Prada’s playful little sister isn’t the only brand to take inspiration from the ballet. Chanel, Molly Goddard, Simone Rocha and Tory Burch also presented the footwear style in their Spring/Summer offerings, but with modern twists like anklet attachments, metallic textures and platform soles.
