PFW diary: Marc Jacobs goes naughty for Louis Vuitton with Naomi and Kate in tow

Fall is looking really bleak. At least in terms of the palette. Burgundy, bottle green, smokey grey and petrol blue have dominated the runways here at the Paris shows, which end today. This morning at Louis Vuitton we were literally met with leathery black balloons hovering above the Carrousel du Louvre ⎯quite a contrast to some of the acid yellow python and orange patent handbags in the crowd.

But the balloons were the first clue of what Marc Jacobs was about to deliver: a fetish theme. A few steps further we faced greeters in maid uniforms wielding feather dusters.

Inside the tent and centre stage were three cages, which the models were delivered up to in elevators. Then, they marched around the perimeter of a square black floor in prim little polos and tweedy suits that were toughened up with patent corsets and Peter Pan collars, glossy pocket flaps, monogrammed porter caps and decorative handcuffs.

Lacquered python handbags were chained to wrists. Shirtdresses had blindfold prints.

Naomi Campbell took a turn in a sweater with a black “car paint” corset bodice and waxed fake fur skirt. Kate Moss closed the show in a fuzzy-sleeved rubberized lace jacket, cashmere panty and strappy crocodile boots. Not sure that look was a good career move for her but it probably doesn’t matter.
