Should you ever find yourself in a similar predicament, the most appropriate way to fête an international fashion superstar in the hometown of her photog paramour would be to roll out the leopard carpet, send in the trannies and keep the bubbly flowing until a dance party ensues amidst racks of designer duds.

Such was the scene last night, at The Bay’s blowout party for Vogue Nippon editor-at-large Anna Dello Russo and Toronto’s own prodigal son, Tommy Ton. Centred around an exhibition of Ton’s photos documenting the many outfits of the inimitable editrix, it was only fitting that she make multiple transformations⎯from the Canadian creations she donned earlier that day (an Erdem sheath dress and insanely feathered vintage Wayne Clark cape) into a Giles mega-poofed prom dress, a Mary Katranzou lampshade skirt and sheer top from her current collection to another from fall, a Ming-inspired cocktail dress. Not to be outdone, homeboy pulled some of his own wardrobe tricks, changing from a striped blue top, khakis and those multi-coloured Prada espadrille oxfords (you know which ones we mean) to a red sweater and black pants and red Aztec print loafers.

As for the rest of us? We were all certainly dressing with a bit of Dello Russo in mind and though the gal herself probably couldn’t glance beyond the throngs of clamouring paps, fans and well wishers long enough to approve (or disapprove), have no fear… our boy Lewis Mirrett was skulking around snapping bits of his favourite outfits and happenings of the night.
