Spring 2015’s developing accessories report »

Predicting the weather when packing for fashion week is tricky business. While the editors and buyers are eager to show off their new fall buys, Paris’s clear sunny skies and 25 degree days have meant that wool was swapped for cotton, coats were left behind and booties replaced with sneakers (Stan Smiths to be specific). Watching each collection debut, it’s hard not to want to slip into something more warm-weather appropriate, and what could be easier than swapping out accessories? Here are today’s picks of the runway extras that we can’t wait to get our hands on come Spring 2015.

Chanel Each season, we can count on Karl Lagerfeld to design something we never knew we needed. Case in point, last spring’s hula hoop bag or this fall’s milk carton clutch. We’re betting the slogan purses and quilted boom boxes will have a wait list a mile long.

Alexander McQueen Always over-the-top, but completely covetable, McQueen accessories are often a feat of engineering. Spring’s strappy gladiator sandals set atop a floating negative wedge were just that and also play into the returning trend of the tall gladiator we’ve also seen at Aquazzura, Valentino and Roger Vivier.

Valentino With a watery undercurrent as a recurring motif, the smattering of delicate gold rings spread across multiple fingers (similar to the gilded shells and starfish caught in models’ hair) felt as though they were tiny treasures pulled from the sea. A subtle detail, but a sweet one too.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Both futuristic and functional, JC de Castelbajac’s shaded visors slid on like hair bands and were piped in the primary colours used in his collection. With every iteration of baseball cap on the market, is the visor poised to take its place
