But London-based designers Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding of the label Palmer Harding are here to prove that the shirt can be anything but ordinary. “How do you take something that’s a part of your day-to-day life and make it exciting?” asks Palmer. “Yes, we can all go out and buy a red-carpet dress and feel wonderful, but how do you make 11 o’clock on a Tuesday morning feel fantastic?”
Through elements like cascading hems, ruffles and asymmetric collars—that’s how. Movement, volume and unexpected proportions define the duo’s fresh and inventive takes on the wardrobe basic, infusing it with new life and some major ’tude while still ensuring that it remains a classic you’ll reach for again and again.
