Pack up your pumpkins and get out your candy canes because it’s officially November, and that means the holiday season is closer than we think. We all know it’s the busiest time of the year between gift shopping for your whole family, holiday work parties and late night dinners with friends. It’s so easy for you to run out of options for all the occasions and I mean, who wants to be an outfit repeater right? Luckily RW&CO. is here to solve our holiday wardrobe woes.

At the tail end of summer, RW&CO. staged its first ever fashion show full of winter-ready wares. The inaugural event (which took place at The Well in Toronto) featured a rich array of autumn hues like dark mauves and beiges, and styles that are begging to be worn in the cooler months. Think cozy knits, glam velvet suits, sheer separates, statement scarves and oh so many great options for the holiday season.

Looking to win at winter dressing? Below, FASHION has rounded up the best looks from the show to help you seamlessly transition to a chic cold-weather wardrobe.

Sheer Separates

The trend: To quote our favourite ice queen, “the cold never bothered us anyways.” Enter the sheer separates that have been all over the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 runways. From translucent tops to see-through skirts, the message has never been clearer: skin is in.

The look: To pull off this divisive trend, look to the RW&CO. Fall 2024 runway for your inspiration. Balance the transparency of your bottoms with a heavy-weight knit on top. You could also sport a sheer shirt with some opaque leather pants. Either way, the key is in opposites.

Where to wear it: Sheer separates definitely give more nighttime energy so we recommend wearing it to a restaurant, bar, speakeasy or any other sultry destination that may result in a secret rendezvous. With a cute pair of mules and a martini (or non-alcoholic cocktail) in-hand, you’re sure to be the best dressed one there.

Velvet Touch

The trend: Consider this mantra by the Seinfeld icon, George Constanza, “I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.” Velvet is so back, but then again, was it ever even out? On the runways, we spotted luxe material in the form of skinny pants, decadent blazers and wrap dresses. But really, who doesn’t love a dash of luxury?

The look: Embrace one-ness in a single tone velvet suit. You can dress it up with a silk blouse or keep it casual with a monochromatic tee. Like this RW&Co. moment, the key is to embrace texture. Also feel free to experiment with colours, although we find ourselves very partial to this aubergine hue.

Where to wear them: Velvet calls for a celebration! We recommend wearing it to your next holiday gala or better yet NYE party to surprise and impress your special someone. The soft sheen makes it perfect for indoor photo opts while its warm insulation will keep you from freezing if the soirée heads outdoors, say, for a firework viewing.

Knit Whits

The trend: This season, knits are more refined. While they were once reserved for lounging in your living room, designers made the case for styling your sweaters in ultra-new and creative ways. Think tons of layers and unique tying techniques.

The look: Layering shouldn’t be reserved for your button-up blouses and cotton turtlenecks. Instead, pile on the knits to give your outfit an extra oomph. Try tying an extra sweater around your shoulders for a dash of academia. Or, if you’re more country-inclined, wrap a large wool blanket around your neck for that “I just came from the Scottish highlands” look.

Where to wear them: Family gatherings can be painful enough as is, so you might as well be comfortable. Whether you want to serve cool rich aunty vibes or you’re in the kitchen whipping up a holiday feast, a sweater dress is the almost always the answer. Plus, these RW&CO. ones are machine washable!

Neck Up

The trend: Who remembers the Lenny Kravitz scarf that broke the internet? It seems to be making its appearance again on the runway. A bold scarf is your best friend this season, you can wrap it around anything from a fancy suit to a comfy jumper .

The look: Leave your 2010s circle scarves behind and embrace the boldness of an oversized woolly neck accessory. To avoid a choking hazard, loosely throw one end of the scarf behind your shoulder and secure it to your coat with a hidden safety pin. Bonus points if you can wrap your scarf around your neck multiple times and the fabric still touches your knees.

Where to wear them: Shopping for presents? Headed to your local coffee shop? Why not travel in warmth with your oversized scarf. It can keep you warm while shopping but also protect you from any unhinged Black Friday Shoppers. It’s the perfect way to bundle up for a stroll in the city.
