Those with a sugary sweet taste in accessories will love the spring collection of arm candy by Nyla Noor. Launched in 2008 by sisters Saifra and Romaana Zia, Nyla Noor’s timeless bags are refined, elegant and high quality with a reasonable price point to boot!
Entitled Stagelight, the latest collection was inspired by the relaxing beaches and dynamic energy of Brazil. Geometrical box clutches ($300 each, at nylanoor.com) made of Italian calfskin transition seamlessly from an afternoon of shopping to a night out on the town. These petite blocks of colour are also a perfect way to nail spring’s most vibrant trend of colour blocking. Available in hues reminiscent of British liquorice candies like marigold, seafoam and coral⎯they pack a powerful wardrobe punch.
Although the Zia sisters grew up in New York City, they have fond fashion memories of visiting their extended family living in Montreal and Toronto. “We would travel to Canada every Labour Day weekend to visit family and shop! We always loved coming back to New York with a whole new wardrobe that no one else in school had,” says Saifra, citing the Bay as one of their favourite destinations. With the success of Nyla Noor, it’s only a matter of time before they’ll see their own designs lining shelves of top Canadian retailers themselves.
