New York: Ralph Lauren and Rad Hourani Fall 2009

My last day to take a bite out of the Big Apple begins with an early call time at Ralph Lauren.  I take in the rise ’n’ shine chicettes with glee—fresh blow-outs, furs and fabulous shoes.

Ralph repeats we’ll always love: camel toppers, cashmere sweaters, tweed vests, distressed belts with bold buckles, shearling coats and tulle embroidered gowns.

Beauty buzz: Hair was pulled back into perfectly ”imperfect” buns with wispy ends. Makeup was naturally beautiful—think flawless skin, flushed cheeks and a hint of rosy pink on lips.

The investment piece to buy this season: A patchwork coat

Delicate details to watch for: Neck ruffs, antique rose hues, fringey layers, tulle, velvet, beading and lace.

Best understated-yet-elegant accessory: Rose gold timepiece

When Ralph took to the runway at the show’s end, his many admirers (and clients) clapped and cheered as his glossy posse—wife Ricky, daughter Dylan, son David and his fiancée Lauren Bush gave him a standing O. Ah, to be a Lauren....

After a quick swing around SoHo, it was off to a gallery space to see Rad Hourani’s fall lineup.

The look: Modern urban dweller Colour du jour: Black...quelle surprise.

Fabric fetish: Leather and more leather by way of skirts, jackets, slashed stovepipe trousers and stacked ankle booties.

Sparkle and shine: beaded embellishment on tunics.

After Rad’s quick runway hi-bye, it was back uptown to grab my luggage and a last look at the tents as I made my way to the airport.
