New York Fashion Week is here — and even the wettest weather won’t stop stylish city-dwellers from celebrating.

Officially kicking off on February 6, the fashion capital’s Fall 2025 season is bringing celebrities, editors and buyers all together in one (heavily photographed) place. Known for hosting prestigious presentations from Houses like Thom Browne and Michael Kors while championing independent labels like Allina Liu and Melke, New York Fashion Week reliably has range. As a result, its sidewalks are a smorgasbord of personal style. And at this time of year, the looks spotted outside the shows are more thought-out than ever.

During September’s annual fashion week, there’s an ease in the air; summer still lingers with long days and balmy nights. But in February, the vibe is decidedly different. With a winter storm watch underway and temperatures dipping into the negatives each day, runway attendees are dressing for more than just front-row refinement — they’re dressing for survival.

Thus far, the streets of the Big Apple have been filled with polished practicality, via leather blazers, novelty hats and sweaters tied on top of rain jackets, instead of under them. Polka dots, animal prints and stripes have emerged as a recurring playful theme. And textural standouts — from long fuzzy furs to velvety separates — have set the tone for a warm embrace of winter dressing.
