New York: Day nine

Feel a bit sad that it’s the last day of N.Y. Fashion Week but my feet and my liver are thrilled. I’m sporting the YSL leopard Tributes again just to make sure my feet will remember this magical week for a long time to come.

I danced my face off last night at the Ben Sherman party, hosted by the Misshapes, at Don Hill’s where model Agyness Deyn celebrated her b-day to the sounds of her boyfriend’s band, The Paddingtons. Thanks to SK-II masks I look fresh and rested!

Good thing too because there was certainly a pretty crowd at Rad Hourani‘s show! Originally from Jordan, by way of Montreal, the Paris-based stylist turned designer showed a strong and sexy collection at Bumble and Bumble. Hourani showed his first ever collection in Paris last season, and with no formal training or education in design! It’s amazing how much he stands out as an emerging talent to watch! He has already been compared to the likes of Ann Demeulemeester and Helmut Lang. Hourani has all the potential to be a fashion darling, with talent and model agencies clamouring to provide him with amazing models and makeup artists free of charge. See photos from this show.

Donna Karan showed super- sexy satin robe dresses and lovely draped jersey dresses, however she shifted to structured tailoring in skirt suits and coats.

Finally, the event everyone was anticipating…Marc Jacobs presented his show at the Armory where, to everyone’s surprise, he began the show after prancing around the giant square stage telling everyone to take their seats! As those of us who actually arrived on time clamoured to our seats (or in my case, squeezed between security guards trying to hold back the panicked hoards just in time to perch on a step) I managed to grab a glass of the champers being offered as the show began. Sonic Youth blasted away while the models coolly walked the edge of the square in what looked like Princess Leia meets Lee Miller-inspired offerings. Plush pastel coats in sheared alpaca, conservative grey, everything blouson and soft shapes that had an air of calm. The models either had sporty- looking thick headbands or tricorne hats (inspired by Paul Revere), feather mohawks or sheer hoodies and shrouds. The result was glamorous, beautiful and relaxing. Spotted: Selma Blair (strange new haircut), Victoria Beckham, M.I.A. (love her), Ellen Pompeo, and K-Fed.
