Montreal shop notes: The ’hood
There’s nothing like a walk along Sainte-Catherine Street West to recharge your retail batteries. And recently there have been many more reasons to shop downtown.
A chic remodelling at the Chanel fragrance and beauty space at the Bay (585 Ste-Catherine St. W., 514-281-4422, hbc.com) now gives beauty junkies more black lacquered dressing tables and movie-star lighting. Browns (1191 Ste-Catherine St. W., 514-987-1026, brownsshoes.com) also got a futuristic makeover—all the better to showcase their new brands like Pucci, Chie Mihara and exclusive Ruthie Davis. Speaking of shoes, Locale (770 Ste-Catherine St. W., 514-861-4324, localeshoes.com), a multi-label boutique, also opened a new spot on the prime corner of McGill Avenue. About one block north of the main drag, it’s worth the detour to Editorial (1455 Stanley St., 514-849-3888, editorialboutique.com) where both high and low price tags mingle.
