Model Minute: Addison Gill

Welcome to Model Minute–a quick chat with an up-and-coming model we love.

Name: Addison Gill Agency: Sutherland Models Where You’ve Seen Her: Addison has appeared in V Magazine (after winning their model search last year) and walked the Fall 2009 runways for the likes of Calvin Klein, Aquilano.Rimondi and Giambattista Valli.

How did you get into modelling? I got started through Sutherland Models in Toronto. They worked closely with Chantale Nadeau, my development agent, who is based in Toronto as well. Sutherland Models set me up for the best test shoots with photographers, such as Owen Bruce, to start up my portfolio.”

What’s your dream modelling job?
Right now, having so much opportunity and exposure to the fashion industry and top designers it is hard to narrow down what my “dream modelling job” would be. Shows from the Fall 2009 season that stood out most for me were being a Calvin Klein exclusive in New York, my bright orange dress--all handmade!--at Pringle of Scotland and the gorgeous show for Valentino.”

What was it like the first time you stepped on a runway?
The first time I stepped out onto the runway I was nervous about making the proper turns and excited about taking the stage as a Calvin Klein exclusive!”

What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?
The last pieces of clothing that I bought was on a Uniqlo shopping spree in New York. I got some crewneck sweaters and jeans and leggings to mix and match. I like to wear a cute sweater and black leggings with my platform heels to castings.”

Who is your favourite designer? “My favourite designer right now is Marc Jacobs. I got to meet and work with him during Paris Fashion Week for Louis Vuitton Fall 2009, which is my absolute favourite. His Marc by Marc Jacobs line is also amazing.  I love the Spring 2009 RTW. The womenswear is so fun, feminine and flirty.”
