Model Kate Upton is apparently a “lazy, lardy piggie”

Kate Upton’s in-your-face rise to fame may not have had unanimous support, but even the model’s harshest critics have generally credited the girl for having an amazing body. Though she obviously caters more towards the Sports Illustrated crowd, her curvy, feminine figure has been a refreshing (though envy-inducing) change for many women too, especially when compared to the pole-like bodies so often sent down the runway.

However, according to a “pro-thinspiration” site run by an anonymous blogger, Upton is a “lazy, lardy” piggie. The writer, who described herself as a former model who weighs in at 100 pounds, posted images of Upton in a bikini, deeming the blonde bombshell as “a solid 30 lbs too heavy” to wear it.

“Did you know that humans are 80% genetically identical to cows? Well, allow me to prove it to you . . . guess who?! Yes, it’s the lovely Kate Upton, confidently lumbering up a runway like there’s a buffet at the end of it,” the Skinny Gossip blogger said, going on to bash Upton’s “vulgar” look. “Huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition – she looks like a squishy brick. Is this what American women are ‘striving’ for now? […] Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww!”

Though Skinny Gossip maintains that it’s not pro-anorexic but simply pro-thin, we have to ask: what website that lists “starving tips” can confidently assert that they’re not encouraging self-harm?

Take tip #5 for example: “Pay close attention to other girl’s bodies. Pick them apart – try to find faults even with the best bodies. Then apply these high standards to yourself.”

Or #13: “Even MORE competition! (It’s such a great motivator!) This time, compete with yourself; test your willpower by making a delicious meal for your boyfriend. Serve it to him and everything – see if you can eat none of it!”

In her defense, Skinny Gossip created a posting addressing self-harm, saying the starving tips (which have since been taken down) were simply meant to help readers curb overeating.

Whether it’s “pro-thin” or “pro-ana,” we really have to question anyone who advises other women to bash each other. At any rate, Upton is the one with a Vogue editorial and a potential role as cover girl for Carine Roitfeld’s glossy, while Skinny Gossip is reduced to spreading toxic words about other women behind a cloak of anonymity. We think Upton comes out on top in this one.
