Milan: Day four

By Susie Sheffman

Shown: Marni Fall 2008. Photography by Peter Stigter.

If it’s Wednesday it must be shoe day–the craziest, most anticipated day on the sched–not to mention it’s also Marni show day–and if you know me, you know THAT’S MY SHOW!!

The one Consuelo Castiglioni puts on just for me!!! But back to shoe day–Milan’s shoe showrooms (and there are about a gazillion of them) fling open their doors for all the international eds to see the newest shoes, boots and bags on the planet (sorry, you guys will have to wait till fall). Flying from one showroom to the next in my most comfortable heels (now there’s an oxymoron), and running to shows in-between–I may as well be running a marathon. Besides the latest shoe-bag goodies, you’re served up the tastiest treats in Milan in each showroom (so now…I really will need to run a marathon).

Now I ask you: Fall shoes, boots, bags, and tiramisu…Does it get any better?

Why, yes, it does. The Marni show–there are just no words!!! And for the clincher:  another amazing dinner in the Brera district (for the third night in a row), with Hazel’s Nicholas Mellamphy and Holt Renfrew’s Barbara Atkin, where we dished the night away…
