The morning begins with heart shaped doughnuts and an officer’s club feeling at Moschino. There are heaps of gold trimmed masculine naval uniforms, black and white tux inspired trouser suits and a dash of sweet flouncy dresses thrown in as a feminine counterpoint by way of ruffles, bustles, floral prints and peplums.
Why Coco Rocha walks the runway with a chicken atop her head, I’ll never know, but one things for sure: she certainly knows how to put the chic into chicken!

Next, a quick showroom tour at Bally—and trust me, this is NOT the same old Bally—where we scale new mountain heights in Nordic inspired ski booties- complete with ice pick stiletto heels. Then, off to a quick run through at Jimmy Choo and a sneak peak at the über brand’s new collection, which was inspired by Paris circa the ‘70s. With muses like Catherine Deneuve—watch for the boxy new Catherine bag—Verushka and Charlotte Rampling it’s easy to see why the showroom is filled to the brim with heavy hitter retailers (I spy fashion directors from Holt Renfrew, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf’s and Net-a-Porter in the first two minutes alone.)
Next, its off to Teatro Manzoni, the gorgeous Italian ‘50s cinema, to catch up with designer Mark Fast and preview his newest collaboration with Italian retail giant Pinko. “Its all about keeping it glamorous, sophisticated, and rebellious” he tells me over a quick glass of fresh squeezed OJ and mini club sandwich, as his models strike a pose behind the sheer curtain on the theatre’s stage.

No rest for the wicked, its straight to the Etro show where I pump up to prepare for a possible pillow-fight at the semi annual Etro pillow-grab, but no such antics ensue, I’m happy to report. Just a runway full of rich tapestry textiles, curly lamb collars, paisley prints and plenty of shiny gold lurex—something we’re seeing to the max here in Milan.
Still to go (before I tuck into another bowl of pasta)… the Gianfranco Ferré show, the Giuseppe Zanotti showroom, the Gucci showroom (I just can’t pass up the chance to have a second look) and the final show of the day: Versace.
 Ciao for now!
