From deep blue accents to bold animal-patterned prints peeking out from beneath the case, these watches are daring in design. Each taking inspiration from the cosmos—think starry-night motifs and meteorite-inspired dials, they’re high on our wishlists this season.

Heavenly Creatures

Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Tribute to the Celestial

Astrology meets haute horology in this collection of 12 timepieces, each one dedicated to a sign of the zodiac. Driven by an ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 2160, these wrist-size works of art are all handcrafted in Vacheron Constantin’s ateliers and feature traditional hand-guilloché diamond-set dials and gem-set bezels.

Moonage Daydream

Tudor 1926 Luna

Celebrated for its dive watches, Tudor has surprised us with its very first moon-phase iteration. This timepiece is also smaller, at 39 millimetres, and slimmer than sportier Tudors, making it an elegant dress watch that can still go to a depth of 100 metres. Plus, it comes in three different dial colours: champagne, blue and black.

Big Star

Citizen Promaster Dive BN0200-56E

This Eco-Drive watch harnesses the power of the sun (or any other kind of light) and can run for months on a single charge. Can’t book a ticket to space quite yet? You can always wear this handsome dive watch to enjoy the feeling of weightlessness underwater.

Man on the Moon

Bulova Lunar Pilot Timascus

This eye-catching time-piece is based on 1971’s Lunar Pilot Chronograph—a watch that was worn on the moon by astronaut Dave Scott. The dial, made of a wavy and colourful “timascus” (a portmanteau of titanium and Damascus), gives the watch its trippy look.

Galaxy Quest

Breitling x Erling Haaland Chronomat Automatic

Meteorite dials are catnip to collectors because not only does the material come from outer space but the natural Widmanstätten pattern of the stones makes each timepiece one of a kind. Plus, this collaboration with Manchester City superstar striker Erling Haaland is limited to 500 pieces, making it that much more exclusive.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

Ancient mariners would navigate the seas using the constellations as their guide. Today, Omega—the brand most associated with interstellar travel—is taking space-age technology and applying it to its classic dive watch, the Seamaster Planet Ocean. This fourth-generation collection features a more angular 42- by 13.79-millimetre case, is powered by a state-of-the-art Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912 with a silicon Si14 balance and has a 60-hour power reserve.

Moonstruck

Swatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold

The MoonSwatch—that star-crossed mix between a Swatch and an Omega Speedmaster—has been subtly evolving from its hypebeast origins, but it still inspires lineups around the block and year-long waiting lists. The limited drops are usually organized around the appearance of the full moon. With its Moonshine Gold moon-phase indicator and charming illustration of NASA mascot Snoopy, the Beaver Moon is our favourite iteration of this chronograph.

Mr Jones Watches Continuum

British brand Mr Jones Watches is known for making fun graphic timepieces. For this edition, it teamed up with illustrator Jacqueline Colley—known for her playful, more-is-more style—to create a kaleidoscopic dial with a layered floating time display that conveys pure pop-culture optimism.

Wish Upon a Star

Zenith Chronomaster Sport Meteorite

Because the Chronomaster Sport is one of Zenith’s most recognizable (and desirable) models, the brand’s design team takes great delight in experimenting with the chronograph’s signatures by using different colours and materials. In this example, Zenith employs monochromatic subdials to contrast with the greyness of the meteorite. And the grains of the meteorite create an otherworldly effect when the light reflects the dial.
