Everyone knew Barbie would be hard to top. A few summers ago, pop culture was painted pink with the release of the juggernaut film, starring Margot Robbie as the titular plastic doll. For months throughout 2023, Robbie was sartorially committed to the bit—referencing vintage editions of the toy and dressing head-to-toe in Mattel-approved palettes. By the time it hit theatres, she was synonymous with her beloved on-screen character. With a red-carpet tour so iconic, how would she manage to move past it? Well, her press tour for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey seems to hold the answer.
Working with stylist Andrew Mukamal, Robbie has been carving out a new aesthetic—one that is more mature, sexy and awash with neutral tones. The duo previously collaborated on the viral Barbie rollout, establishing their ability to expand cinematic world-building with archival pulls and access to fresh-off-the-runway pieces. This film—where Margot Robbie stars opposite Colin Farrell in a romantic drama—calls for a more grown-up edge, and that’s exactly what we’re getting. See below for all the looks Margot Robbie has worn for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

Pink, but not in a Barbie way. For the film’s photocall in London, Robbie traded hot pink for muted pastel in a slip skirt and coordinating bralette. The look, pulled from Mugler’s Fall 1998 collection, struck sexy-meets-understated—featuring a side slit, sculptural bra detailing and sleek lines throughout.

For the UK premiere on September 11, Robbie wore Armani Privé couture from the brand’s Spring 2025 collection. Embellished with colourful beadwork and a mesh overlay, the gown gave naked dressing a couture spin.

On her final day in the British capital, Robbie opted for a refined take on casual daywear with a look from Chanel’s Resort 2026 collection. Donning bootcut denim and a cream-coloured vest with bedazzled neckline and button details, Robbie took promotional interviews for her film in effortless elegance. To finish the look off with modern-day polish, she carried a gold quilted Chanel bag.

Corsetry, cut-outs and an avant-garde train? It has to be vintage Mugler. After a series of appearances in London, Robbie travelled back over the pond for the premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in New York City. To kick off her North American press tour, she stepped out in an ultra-cinched dress from the brand’s Spring 1998 Couture collection. The two-toned palette—a stark mix of black and white—was a firm departure from Barbie-era dressing, further solidifying Robbie’s movie-star styling in 2025.

The following day, she continued the tonal theme with a black and white mini dress from Celine’s Spring 2014 collection. The Phoebe Philo design featured abstract print reminiscent of brush strokes, and Robbie finished the look with buckled black pumps and sleek red-tinted sunglasses, also from Phoebe Philo.

Later that day, she was spotted in another colourless ensemble and unexpected silhouette. The focal point of the grey-and-black outfit was her Phoebe Philo blazer, which featured a plunging neckline and asymmetrical cut. She peppered the look with black accessories—including leather mules (also Philo) and a teeny black bra—for elevated day-to-night versatility.

Towards the end of the day, she switched into another monochromatic co-ord. For an afternoon of appearances, she opted for an all-brown set from the Christopher Esber Resort 2026 collection. Here, it was all about balance. The skirt’s buttery suede against the top’s sheeny croc material made the case for an ensemble that can do it all, not unlike Robbie herself.
