The Mercedes-Benz Start Up alum has been moving onwards and upwards ever since her win in 2013. And since showing last season, Malorie Urbanovitch has landed in stores at La Maison Simons in Edmonton, a major account to sit atop her list of retailers along with cross-Canada retailer Gravity Pope. This season’s collection saw Urbanovitch branch into prints, in collaboration with artist Bernadette Paets. It proved to be subtle, having me wowed to see portions of the hand paintings 3D printed into accessories.

Collection Inspiration Urbanovitch’s raw and uneven hems were inspired by nature’s rolling hills and waves as contrast to some of her more rigid silhouettes.

Trend Notes Feminine ruffles were strategically placed throughout the collection on shirts, skirts and slip dresses.

Hair/Makeup Natural waves were tucked behind one ear and clean skin had the girls looking like models off duty. Their laid back look was mimicked in the easy breezy collection and let the clothes do all of the talking.

Accessories Leather bags with wonky waved handles were painted with Edmonton-based artist, Bernadette Paetz, who collaborated with the designer for the first prints to ever be featured in her collection. Topping off the looks were statement earrings, some of which were shaped like pieces of Paetz’s work.

Fabrication 3D printing was used to convert portions of Paetz’s paintings into bold earrings for and handles for the bags in the collection.
