Toronto Has a New Co-Workspace for Women, and it’s Totally ‘Gram-Worthy

Toronto is filled with stylish co-workspaces—The East Room, WeWork Toronto and Shecosystem, to name a few. But there’s a new co-workspace for women that we can’t wait to check out, mainly because of the Instagram-worthy decor, inspirational posters and, of course, bright lighting: Make Lemonade.

Located at 326 Adelaide Street West, the 3,000 sq. ft-space, which was designed by MMNT Design, features lemon-themed murals, colourful accents and palm leaf-print wallpaper, making it a fresh and inspiring workspace for female freelancers, creatives and entrepreneurs. The inclusive community, which welcomes people of all backgrounds, is all about creating an environment for ambitious women to empower and support each other and “get.sh*t.done.”

“I created Make Lemonade because as a freelancer, the struggle of not having a homebase was real,” says founder, Rachel Kelly, in a press release. “I was tired of hopping from coffee shop to coffee shop with dodgy wifi and limited seating. My mission was to create an office space that lived inside my imagination.”

Along with the shared workspace, you’ll find hot desks, phone booths, a private boardroom and an indoor patio.

As for the name? It comes from the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

“The idea of Make Lemonade isn’t just about turning sour situations sweet, but choosing to create something, anything, that will make your life richer,” says Make Lemonade on their website.

And while it is meant to be women-only, that’s not to say man-identified colleagues/friends/lovers can’t pop in here and there for meetings and events.

Memberships to Make Lemonade range from $25-$500 per person per month, depending on whether you want to just stop by for a day or want a key with 24/7 access and your own desk. All members, however, do get calendar access to weekly events ranging from speaker series to cocktail hour and unlimited tea and coffee (no word if there is any actual lemonade, though!).
