Maison Martin Margiela to launch online shopping
Maison Martin Margiela is the latest fashion label to join the world of e-commerce with the launch of their online shop at maisonmartinmargiela.com. The e-boutique, which launches on October 1 and is powered by the fashion retailing site YOOX, will look like a photo negative of the current site and the official font will be that of MS-DOS. (Already the site reminds one of getting a syntax error).
“We are creating the most visible store in the world for the most ‘invisible designer,’” said YOOX founder and CEO Federico Marchetti.
The house, which was founded by Belgian designer Martin Margiela--who has since left the company, will commemorate the launch of the new shop with an interpretation of a signature piece--a ‘5 zips’ leather biker jacket done in glazed indigo cotton--available exclusively online.
