Lululemon’s Lab Pop Up Takes Athleisure Into Street Style Territory
We know what you’re thinking: Lululemon is already synonymous with athleisure. You wear your Wunder Under pants to work with boots and a tunic (we do, too). But leave it to the company’s Design Lab (with two locations; one in New York, the other in Vancouver) to kick things up a notch and have us wanting more. Launched in 2009 in Vancouver, Lululemon Lab is a like a test kitchen for clothes: Designers work to create limited-edition pieces that are available in all the performance fabrics Lululemon is known for, but with an amped up design element (think neoprene-esque mini dresses and convertible trenches). And now, from November 25 through December, a selection of pieces will be introduced to Toronto’s Queen Street West store.
The inspo behind all the black clothing? The streets of NYC, where street-style stars and designers are often found in head-to-toe black. (That’s how we roll at FASHION, too.) But you’ll also find burgundy, greys and a few pops of pattern. Prices range from $60 to $450. Consider this your new capsule collection.
