Don’t tell my boyfriend, but I’ve gone and fallen in love. No, not with another man—heavens, who has time between fashion shows and snowboarding for such folly as that?
This tryst is with accessories line Simply Sublime (simplysublime.ca), whose delicate necklaces with real leaf pendants plated in yellow gold make a simple but stunning statement. And though I should be setting cash aside for a new refrigerator (you fashion-committed home owners can relate to the joy in that purchase—so much for those new Balenciaga gladiator sandals), I went out last night and picked up. The Central Park necklace ($108), that is. Happy Valentine’s Day to me!
No holiday seems to inspire as passionate a reaction as the infamous V-Day. “An insult!” exclaimed one irritated blogger. “A wonderful excuse to adore!” proclaimed another. I choose to side with the latter. Not because I’m expecting—or would even want—roses and chocolate, but because of something Coco Chanel once said: “There is time for work. And time for love. That leaves no other time!” Which means that unless you intend to live a life governed solely by work, February 14, dear reader, is the perfect excuse to love yourself, and the opportunity to do so every other day of the year is just an excuse away.
So if you want fresh flowers, purchase a bunch. Should you covet a pair of diamond studs, buy them. If you deserve a new Fendi bag (and don’t need a new fridge), indulge. You’ll be embarking upon the greatest love affair of your life.
