If the four major fashion weeks were a friend group, London would indisputably be known as the rebellious one of the bunch. Through the years, the city has gifted us with flashes of coloured fur, plenty of plaid, frothy tulle dresses and an unapologetic love of homegrown U.K. brands like Chopova Lowena and JW Anderson. Earlier this year, Londoners played a game of contrast—think denim paired with lace and pearl-festooned leather, among other Pinterest-worthy styling ideas.
This season saw all these trends make a triumphant return. The fur jackets were bigger and more colourful (not to mention, co-signed by Julia Fox). Plaid and tartan remained mainstays. There was no shortage of leather, sported in layers or paired with fringe. And yes, Chopova Lowena is still very much a thing—but that doesn’t mean there weren’t new trends worth bookmarking.
Ballet-inspired footwear, jolts of electric blue and a full spectrum of green emerged as throughlines across looks. And while some of the trends we saw in New York found their way to London (Sequins! Kooky hats! Layers upon layers of elevated basics!), there’s one clear point of differentiation: there wasn’t a tank top in sight. From strong-shouldered blazers to slouchy trench coats, outerwear reigned supreme.
