Despite a back-to-back schedule rife with star designers, the buzz surrounding yesterday’s Burberry show was palpable. A massive tent built for the occasion in the lush Kensington Gardens hosted the fall show as well as a top tier front row that included Cara Delevigne (who has yet to walk a runway in London), Kate Moss, Jourdan Dunn, Sam Smith and Maggie Gyllenhaal. A fashionably late Naomi Campbell slid in from a side door mid-show and squeezed in beside famed photographer Mario Testino, who sang along with the finale as a cloud of silver confetti fell.
If yesterday’s shows were any indication, London has seemingly put the brakes on minimalism in favour of the opulent, decorative and complex. Next season, an LBD just won’t do. Everything from show sets (like Giles‘ enchanted dark forest and Erdem‘s retro living rooms complete with burnt cigarettes in the ashtrays) to accessories (like Peter Pilotto‘s jewelled booties and Christopher Kane‘s foil box bags) had an over-the-top touch. Watch for these 6 details to amp up your style quotient next season:

Burberry Fall 2015
Fringe
Burberry brought it in every iteration. Entire capes swayed in suede as the models walked. Leopard print hid beneath it on bucket bags and high heels disappeared behind thick curtains.

Roksanda Fall 2015
Fur
Roksanda sent bright belted scarves and fluffy clutches down the runway. There’s no doubt that a shot of coloured fur makes something seriously luxe a little more playful.

Erdem Fall 2015
Brocade
Erdem’s ‘50s style emerald and amethyst brocade dresses were saved from being too saccharine with unfinished hems and feathers springing from the fabric.
4/5
Christopher Kane Fall 2015
Ruffles
They have been fluttering all week, most noticeably down the side of pant legs. I wonder if Selma Hayek, who was sitting front row at Christopher Kane, will give his femininely flounced dresses a try.

Peter Pilotto Fall 2015
Lace
Peter Pilotto printed and appliquéd on top of it, Giles cut it into dramatic Victorian collars and Christopher Kane cut saturated asymmetric swaths into evening dresses.
