Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke star in Lonely Lingerie’s unretouched photoshoot

The bar on body diversity continues to move. Recently I was at a wedding where the most eye-catching female guest was a green-eyed 30-something in a dress that hugged her size 14 (or more) frame. Of course, non-sample size ladies have always been pretty but for some reason, she really stood out on this occasion and I think a lot of that has to with brave women like Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke.

The real-life friends parade in various states of undress on the show Girls, but now they are appearing in a photo shoot for New Zealand luxury lingerie label Lonely Lingerie. Pics appeared on the brand’s Instagram feed. The two friends are seen in their natural habitat, Brooklyn, hanging out at home, applying lipstick, even sitting on the toilet. It’s part of Lonely Lingerie’s “Lonely Girl Project,” which uses only unretouched images. So what you get are some tattoos, a nipple (gasp!) and since Kirke has two kids, a real mummy tummy (double gasp!). Real women!
