Neck mess, wrist party, earscape... Whatever your preference, the message is clear: Maximalism is so back. Not sure where to start? Four Canadian jewellery connoisseurs share their tips on how to nail the layered look.
Permanent Pieces: “I wear up to 14 pieces of jewellery every day, including a small diamond tennis necklace, a Tiffany & Co. dog tag and infinity necklace, a Mirit Weinstock folded heart pendant and a bunch of Lisa Gozlan bracelets.”
Jewellery Rule: “Build a collection over time, and invest in pieces that can be worn daily, not just for special occasions.”
Current Go-To: “I bought this cigar-band-style ring from Foundrae for myself after a particularly trying period in my life. The compass symbolizes the continual process of adjusting course to align with our true purpose.”
Permanent Pieces: “I always wear a lower-case ‘d’ pendant that my friend and designer Rory Rockmore custom-made for me, a Cartier Love ring that I bought for myself after getting a job I had really wanted and a pavé link bracelet that matches my partner’s.”
Jewellery Rule: “I’ve definitely gone through stages where I only wore gold or silver, but now I wear everything — all at once. Rules are so boring.”
Current Go-Tos: “Right now, I’m very into anything crystal, diamond or sparkly.”
Permanent Piece: “My evil-eye necklace, because it helps cleanse my energy.”
Jewellery Rule: “More is more! I love maximalism, so bold and chunky pieces are my favourites.”
Current Go-Tos: “I’m obsessed with my chunky Vitaly Paragon choker at the moment. Its quality is amazing! And, as a Canadian, I love seeing local brands doing great things.”
Permanent Pieces: “My go-to timepiece is the Vieren Black Croc watch. Then, stacked next to it is a bracelet that I found in a design shop in the Old Port of Montreal that looks like teeth imprints.”
Jewellery Rule: “I love to mix and match vintage pieces with sleek, modern jewellery to give my stack a layered and textural look. I really enjoy going to antique markets and art fairs to discover one-of-a-kind pieces.”
Current Go-To: “I’m in love with our Vieren Gold Waves watch. I generally prefer silver metals, but this gold rectangular timepiece speaks volumes to me and has changed my colour preference.”
