Ms. Lauryn Hill Stars in Her First Ever Fashion Campaign

When Ms. Lauryn Hill released her first solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1988 (after starting out with the Fugees), she became an icon, who helped pave the way for a whole generation of American female artists. Always an incredibly stylish woman the singer is now collaborating with Woolrich, on her first ever fashion campaign.

Woolrich, the oldest American outdoor clothing brand, was founded in 1830 in Pennsylvania, which makes it a pioneer in its own right. For the fall 2018 campaign, ‘The Woolrich : American Soul since 1830’ campaign will celebrate the brand’s origins. In typical Ms. Lauryn Hill style, she didn’t sit back waiting for other people to make the creative decisions. The musical icon applied her creative input at all stages of the process: From modelling for the campaign images, to performing live music, even designing the limited-edition capsule pieces. Ms. Hill actually infused her personality into the collection by personally customizing classic Woolrich styles, using her own sewing and designing skills. In all Ms. Hill produced over 30 jacket sketches.

The campaign arrives as Ms. Hill is in the midst of a worldwide tour that marks the twentieth anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The images allude to her musical beginnings by shooting on the same location as her famous 1998 “Doo-Wop/That Thing” music video.
